What it takes to go VIRAL on TikTok in 2023

2022 was a great year for TikTok. On average users spent more than 1.5 hours per day using the app! In Q2 of 2022, TikTok surpassed 1 billion monthly active users and overall has had 3.5 billion installations! It’s no doubt that we’ll see these numbers expand throughout 2023. With that said, TikTok is expected to continue being an important platform for business growth, especially for companies looking to reach a younger audience and stay relevant amongst Gen Z.

TikTok provides a vast and engaged audience for businesses to tap into. The platform’s unique features, such as lip syncing, music and dance challenges, and creative editing tools, make it a great place for businesses to showcase their products and services in a fun, memorable and authentic way.

Additionally, TikTok’s algorithm is designed to surface content that is likely to go viral, which can help businesses quickly reach a large audience. Overall, using TikTok as part of a comprehensive social media marketing strategy can be an effective way for businesses to connect with and engage their target audience, ultimately leading to growth.

So what can you do to help accomplish success and get results? Take a look at the Favoured pointers to help you skyrocket your potential on TikTok in 2023…

  1. Don’t always rely on trending sounds for growth

While using trending sounds on TikTok can be an effective way to gain traction and reach a larger audience, it’s important to not rely solely on this strategy for growth. Here are a few reasons why:

  • When a sound becomes popular on TikTok, it can quickly become oversaturated with content, making it difficult for your video to stand out. Trending sounds can change rapidly too.  If you build your content strategy around trending sounds and they fall out of favour, you may struggle to maintain your growth.
  • Using trending sounds just for the sake of going viral can come across as inauthentic and may not align with your brand’s values and message.

Therefore, it’s also important to focus on creating original, authentic content that resonates with your target audience and aligns with your brand’s message. Here are some examples of TikTok creators who don’t always rely on trending TikTok sounds to create great content:

  1. Make it personal

By keeping your TikTok account on ‘personal mode’ compared to ‘business mode’, your presence remains authentic. This  can help you connect with your audience on a deeper level, foster a sense of community and establish a stronger brand presence on the platform. Plus,  on the occasion when you do want to use trending sounds, that too will be accessible to you as having a business account actually limits your access to sounds.

3. 3 posts a day for 30 days

If you’re unsure on how to present yourself and your content then perhaps testing the ‘3 posts a day for 30 days’ can help you reach your goals! By posting consistently, you can establish a regular presence on TikTok and keep your audience engaged. Posting frequently can help increase your visibility on the platform, as TikTok’s algorithm is designed to surface content from accounts that are active and engaging.

Posting 3 TikToks a day for 30 days also gives you the opportunity to experiment with different content formats and styles to see what resonates with your audience. This can help you fine-tune your content strategy and create more effective content in the future.

It’s important to keep in mind that the frequency and volume of your content should be based on your specific goals and resources. If posting 3 TikToks a day for 30 days is not feasible for your business, consider a different posting schedule that works for you.

Now with that said, trending sounds/features are still good to use! You don’t want to completely alienate yourself from them as they, too, can help you grow on TikTok. It’s more about finding the perfect balance. Here are some examples of current sounds on TikTok that are trending for January 2023:

  1. ‘Sure Thing’ sped up version

This is a super simple sound to lip sync to! All you need to do is match the sound and show off your style, your makeup or your outfit!

  1. Slideshows

Towards the end of 2022 TikTok introduced Slideshows. Users can scroll to the right of the TikTok and see up to 30 pictures in one TikTok. You can add a sound of your choice too. TikTok users have started to post pictures of themselves on TikTok compared to posting on Instagram as they’re finding out that they’re getting better results.

  1. Love me transition

If there is one thing users on TikTok LOVE to do it’s a transition video. From before and after makeup designs to GRWMs! Every now and then sounds come along that help make transition videos perfect. For this occasion, you can use this sound! Check it out!

  1. And remember kids… the next time someone tells you the government wouldn’t do that… oh yes they would!

When it comes to editing your TikTok content it’s best to use the sounds that TikTok provides. This sound is a great example of the text feature in action. Just film yourself or a place (it can be anything – even a slideshow) and add text over the top of the video explaining something controversial. Try out a conspiracy theory or just something you say you’re not going to do but end up doing anyway!

To conclude, TikTok is here to stay in 2023 and it’s all  about being true to your brand and expressing a message that users can connect with. If you’re somebody looking to grow on TikTok in 2023 then get in touch today! We look forward to hearing from you!
