Purpose and scope

This statement sets out how Favoured manages the environmental impacts and aspects of its operations, and the programme of improvement it commits to. It applies to every employee, to the directors, and to freelancers and subcontractors working on our behalf. It covers all of our activities: marketing strategy, paid media, creative and video production, web and analytics work, and the administration of the business.

It sits alongside our Carbon Reduction Plan, which is prepared in accordance with PPN 06/21 and carries our commitment to Net Zero by 2050. This statement is the broader document: the Carbon Reduction Plan addresses greenhouse gas emissions, and this policy addresses our environmental impact more generally.

Our position, stated plainly

Favoured is a fully remote digital business. We operate no offices, no premises, no warehousing and no vehicles. The two largest environmental impacts of a comparable agency, being building energy and daily staff commuting, are structurally absent from our operations rather than reduced by effort.

We state that as a fact about our operating model, not as an achievement. It means our remaining impact is concentrated in a small number of places, and it is those we hold ourselves to.

The environmental aspects we manage

Energy and emissions. Our residual energy use sits in colleagues’ homes and in the cloud infrastructure we run on. We select hosting and platform suppliers that operate on renewable energy where a choice exists.

Business travel. Travel is the largest lever we control directly. Our default is to meet remotely. Where travel is necessary, rail is the default in place of domestic air travel and in place of private car journeys wherever the route allows it.

Digital delivery and media. Our work is delivered digitally rather than printed. Where a client requires printed material, we specify recycled or certified stock and print quantities against actual need rather than against price breaks that encourage overproduction.

Equipment and electronic waste. Hardware is specified for a working life rather than a refresh cycle, kept in service for as long as it remains fit for purpose, and disposed of through recognised WEEE recycling or reuse channels at end of life.

Paper and consumables. We operate a paperless administrative process. Contracts, invoices, approvals and reporting are handled electronically.

Supply chain. Environmental impact is a consideration in selecting suppliers and subcontractors, alongside cost and capability.

Our commitments

Favoured commits to:

  1. Comply with all applicable environmental legislation and regulation as a minimum standard, and

to treat compliance as a floor rather than a target.

  1. Prevent pollution and minimise waste arising from our activities.
  2. Maintain remote-first working as the default operating model, and to keep business travel

deliberate rather than routine.

  1. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with our Carbon Reduction Plan and our commitment to Net

Zero by 2050.

  1. Consider environmental impact when selecting suppliers, platforms and subcontractors.
  2. Communicate this policy to everyone who works for or on behalf of Favoured, and make it

available to clients and to the public on request.

Programme of improvement

We commit to a continuing programme of improvement rather than a fixed end state. Specifically:

  • Measure before claiming. We report business travel undertaken for a client account where a

client asks for it, as an absolute figure rather than an intensity ratio that can flatter.

  • Annual review. This policy and our environmental performance are reviewed at least annually

by the directors, and the policy is reissued with a version number and date.

  • Improvement targets are set against the previous year, and where we do not meet one we say so

in the following review rather than restating the target.

  • Client reporting on request. Where a client contract requires environmental reporting, we

report against the measures that contract specifies.

Responsibility

Overall responsibility for this policy rests with the directors of Indigital XYZ Ltd. Day to day responsibility for applying it sits with every member of staff. Any employee, freelancer or subcontractor who identifies an environmental risk or an opportunity to reduce impact is expected to raise it, and the directors are responsible for acting on it.

Availability

This statement is available to clients, prospective clients and contracting authorities on request, and is published alongside our Carbon Reduction Plan.
